DSAC is the liaison between the Deaf community of San Diego and the DCS board. If anyone from the Deaf community has any ideas, suggestions, or concerns to share, they can come to DSAC and we will pass it on to the DCS board so they can respond or relay these suggestions to DCS so they can implement them. So, DSAC serves an important role – to ensure that the community has a way to communicate with DCS. We will have a meeting on Aug 25 at 6 PM. The meeting will be held virtually, via Zoom. Covid cases have been growing so for everyone’s safety, it’s best for all of us to be able to attend the meeting from home. The link to the Zoom meeting will be posted on the DCS website and instagram. The purpose of the meeting will be to elect the Chair and Vice Chair of DSAC. We need these positions to be filled so DSAC can proceed with its business – more meetings, Town Hall, other events. I am currently the only DSAC officer and I cannot do everything myself. After the Chair and Vice Chair are elected, we can work together to make things happen. If you are interested in running for either Chair and Vice Chair, please email dsac@dcsofsd.org. You must show up to the meeting so community members can engage with you before voting. However, if you cannot show up, you can send a vlog explaining why you are running for the position. That vlog should be sent to the same email address, dsac@dcsofsd.org. After the Chair and Vice Chair are elected, Monique Ball, the Executive Director of DCS, will open the floor so that she can meet community members and have a Q&A session. It’ll be an awesome opportunity for attendees to meet her! So, I hope to see you all there.
