If you’re looking for a program to improve your skills such as reading, writing, internet and computer use, employment-related topics, and communication using American Sign Language (ASL), DCS Adult Literacy is the place for you!

Become Successful in the workforce

To become independent and succeed in the workforce, the program provides individuals with a variety of useful tools. Many of our trainees include immigrants from other countries as well as the United States. We promote multiculturalism in our classrooms.

The program also includes an educational and vocational assessment to determine the individual’s needs, as well as making recommendations for progress towards success.

LEAD – LANGUAGE, EMPLOYMENT, ASSESSMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

The LEAD services assist individuals in enhancing their general literacy abilities so they can enroll in college, earn a GED, obtain employment, pass a written DMV test, become US citizens, and pursue careers.

Yes! Your VR counselor covers the cost of tuition, required textbooks, and school supplies.
No, this course is specifically intended for students who are deaf, hard of hearing, late-deafened, deaf-blinded, or nonverbal.
Yes! Everything is taught in American Sign Language.
Of course, you can choose based on what we have to offer.
Yes, of course! After you finish the DMV education course in the literacy program, we will help you obtain an interpreter for the written test at one of the DMV centers.
And we do provide both! At DCS Headquarters, the classroom is located on the second floor.

Yes! This literacy program is part of the Advocacy, Community and Engagement (ACE) Department. We help individuals in many ways such as translating their household letters in ASL, making DMV appointments, etc. We also provide resources and referrals.
Yes! We assist you in completing the necessary papers, passing citizenship exams, and obtaining US citizenship.
Of course! We will provide resources as needed.
