DYLC 2025 Impact Recap
This year’s DYLC was hosted at the YMCA’s Camp Surf Castaways in Imperial Beach + Mission Beach, where we had wave after wave of exciting activities!
Our campers participated in STEM learning, teamwork activities, and sports—all in the span of a sunny three-day weekend!

The STEM Project
For the STEM project, our campers learned about oil spills.
During the project, we:
- learned about oil spill and its environmental impact
- hypothesized methods of oil removal using soap, spoon, and cotton balls
- shared our findings. To our surprise, using a spoon turned out to be the most effective oil removal method!
Volleyball and Teamwork
The Skatepark was everyone's favorite!
We did a vote, and most of our campers’ favorite activity was going to the skatepark!
