e5 After School Program

Youth and Family Services

The e5 After School Program was established to empower deaf youth to:

Explore possibilities,
Experiment with new ideas,
Experience new adventures,
Exercise both mentally and physically, and
Excel in life.

Empowering Deaf Youth

The program is in direct response to the growing number of young Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals who are struggling – both socially and emotionally – at school and among peers.

How DCS is working with schools

DCS’ collaboration with the San Diego Unified School District provides access for youth development services and hands-on leadership and teambuilding activities to students through inspiring them into believing in themselves that will promote self-esteem, friendships, strong interpersonal skills, and reassert a sense of fulfillment. With support, DCS strives to ensure that all Deaf San Diego students will graduate with the skills, motivation, curiosity and resilience to succeed in life. Currently the e5 program is now going through reimplement process in various school districts. Due to covid pandemic impact, our e5 program went on hold and we are working on having this program start again.
